As part of the In-Stream Water Quality Monitoring Program, the City of Burnaby (the “City”) wishes to retain the services of a consulting engineer (the “Consultant”) for the above noted project.
Water quality is a critical indicator of the health of our aquatic environments and is essential for sustaining biodiversity, public health, and economic activities. The City is home to numerous water bodies that provide habitat for wildlife, recreational opportunities, and water for agricultural and industrial use. However, these water bodies are subject to various environmental pressures, including pollution, urban runoff, and climate change. Continuous monitoring of water quality is therefore paramount to detect and address any potential issues promptly.
The objective of this program is to systematically collect, analyze, and report on water quality data from various creeks and streams within the City’s jurisdiction to ensure the protection of water resources, support regulatory compliance, and inform management decisions.
